Save Alpe Devero!

More than a hundred thousand. More than a thousand times a hundred. More than 125,000 signatures have been collected in support of the petition "Save Alpe Devero!" launched on Change by the Committee for the Protection of Alpe Devero to oppose "Avvicinare le Montagne", the project for a tourist resort and infrastructure that threatens the integrity of an inestimable alpine area, a common good subject to European, national and regional protection regulations.

The appeal, launched in the summer of 2018 by the Devero Protection Committee, has had wide and lasting resonance thanks to overwhelming word of mouth among Alpe Devero lovers, the tens of thousands of citizens who have joined in, and the commitment of CAI sections. Numerous signatures came from abroad, demonstrating the importance, also European, that transcends the local context, of the protection of such a rare and precious area.

The threat is not foiled!

'Avvicinare le Montagne' was withdrawn in December 2022; it failed to pass the necessary Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). But the proponents intend to reintroduce the different interventions, one at a time, seeking local authorisations beyond the overall impact assessment (SEA), trusting in their easier approval.
