Alpe Devero is the heart of an enchanting and grandiose alpine region, protected for its landscape and biodiversity; without access to cars, frequented summer and winter by those who love spaces and nature without infrastructure.
However, landscape, biodiversity and beauty are under attack: projects for new lifts, ski and mountain bike slopes, roads, hotels, bars and accommodation facilities follow one after the other: consumption of trees and soil, water reservoirs, artificial snow, damage to the delicate and irreplaceable environment.
A large project called "Avvicinare le montagne" was proposed to transform this "unicum" in the Alps into a large summer-winter tourist area. After five years, in December 2022, "Avvicinare le montagne", which failed to pass the Environmental Impact Assessment, was withdrawn. But the threats continue: there are numerous projects changing the characters of this precious natural environment.
To protect the Devero and its territory, the Devero Protection Committee was formed, gathering the support of a wide network of collaborators and more than 125,000 supporters to its cause.
